The queens that we use as breeders are II and they last at least 2 to 3 
years.  Some may only last a short time but hey, so do some open mated 
queens.  After all, how many horses are bred from the best genetic stock and 
end up in tins of dog food?  I find the II queens OK for our purpose as 
breeders.
