***Science centre education research projects?***

Now that 2005 is upon us, are you planning or working on a research
project, large- or small-scale, related to education and interpretation
in science centres, museums or galleries?

We are compiling a list of such projects for the FEBRUARY issue of
Museum Education Monitor (MEM). If you would like yours included, please
send an e-mail to [log in to unmask]  that summarizes:
- name of project
- research question(s) [no more than 50 words, please]
- principal researchers
- site(s) where research is being conducted
- time span
- contact information
- key words to describe the project [no more than 4 or 5, please]
Deadline for submissions for this issue is Friday, February 11, 2005.

Projects listed in the December 2004 issue of MEM include: 
- Making Meanings of the Distant Past: representations of archaeology in
museum exhibitions(Australia)

- What is the relationship between public archaeology programming and
public awareness of and attitudes towards archaeological heritage and
related issues in Canada? (Canada)

- Exploring the Value of Access to Digitised Visual Art within a
Community (UK) 

- An evaluation of the effectiveness of guided tours as a form of
interpretation in historic houses (UK)

- Stag beetles, greenhouses & plastic bottles - pupils' ideas about
local & global environmental issues(UK) 

- Factors conditioning educational practice between schools and centres
of contemporary art and how it can be optimised; an analysis of
policies, politics, practices and potentials (UK)

- Computer Games as Interactive Labels for Science Centre Exhibits (UK)

- Living History and Museum Education Pedagogy: Can embedded tenets
improve Social Science education?(USA) 

- In a collaboration of museums and k-12 educators, what are the most
effective means to develop interactive videoconferences and what are the
outcomes of those videoconferences on museums and schools? (USA)

- The Facilitation of Scientific Thinking and Problem-Solving in
Museums[working title](USA)
