Talk about apples and oranges!  (or maybe mangoes, given the color  
scheme of the Tech's building.)

As someone who likes things about both the Tech and the  
Exploratorium, I'd say the writer had a particular set of axes to grind.

It would be just as easy to point out examples of "over the top uses  
of technology"  at the Exploratorium  (I won't get specific, but look  
on the second floor...) as well as fun and familiar materials at the  
Tech (Mr. Potato head and computer programming come immediately to  
mind.)

Any publicity is good publicity, I suppose, but it seems like a  
patently superficial treatment of both institutions.
