Glen,

Many do, from small to large, in the US, Canada, and especially Europe. Some
are prominent (like the Science Museum of Minnesota, the Museum of Science,
Boston, the Science Museum in London, or La Cite near Paris), but that
doesn't mean others are not doing good work in that arena (see Beryl's
email).

The Museum of Science, Boston, for instance, runs an entire center, called
Current Science & Technology (CS&T) with its own website under
www.mos.org/cst (I believe), and London has Antenna in their Wellcome wing.
La Cite in Paris is very advanced in addressing these issues as well. Again,
these are just some of the big ones, and many more today are doing it.

Jeff Hayward of People, Places and Design in Northampton, Massachusetts, has
conducted a study on museum/science center visitors' perspective on current
science and current research in these places. CS&T has studied audience
response to shows in formative and summative evaluations (we collaborated on
those), and the Science Museum in London has done extensive studies on their
programming as well.

Cheers,
Martin

I am keen to hear of science centres that are presenting shows that address:

1. Latest technologies
2. The Science behind current issues

I am also interested in research which supports the need to address these
topics and any evaluation of existing'programs.
