Did anyone catch the Today Show yesterday morning? They discussed the
recent death of a young woman with peanut allergy who was kissed by her boyfriend
after he had eaten something with peanuts or peanuts themselves. She died of
anaphylactic shock. Katie Couric interviewed a doctor after the news part
and when asked what families could do to lessen the development of allergies,
he stated first that breastfeeding was a major deterrent as well as the
nursing mother avoiding dairy, peanuts, tree nuts.

I emailed a response to the show thanking the doctor for his comments and
asking if they would do a follow-up on the story about the importance of
exclusive breastfeeding.
