My recollection is that half a tsp (2.5ml) of colostrum will ward of 
hypoglycaemia - easily expressed on to a teaspoon and fed even to a sleepy 
newborn.  Perhaps this is the connection you need?   I've 'read this 
somewhere'  too, but can't remember where!
