AAARGH! No stooling and under birth weight at 2 weeks of age means baby
needs more to eat. He did well until the supplement was stopped, then
stopped stooling! Who has decided that mom has a "good supply" and on
what basis? Usually a good supply is judged by baby's growth,
contentment, and stool output. Or perhaps by test weights, followed by
pumping, to see if baby is able to get the milk that is available. If
baby is unsettled ("feisty"), he wants more food, especially coupled
with no stools and still being under bw at 2 weeks.
Just because the pediatrician wasn't worried does not mean we should
neglect this case. By 8 weeks, moms' milk supply could be trashed and
the baby could be in real trouble, instead of a little skinny.
Please help mom make more milk, and/or help baby get the milk she has.
