So is this saying that if baby is used to pacifier be sure it is always with 
them or they are at risk for SIDS ?

This is a big practice issue for me.  I've always rec that parents ditch the 
pacifier between 5-7 mo.  It seems to be a natural time for babies to need 
them less and give them up easily.  I do rec leaving the pacifier in the 
crib as the last place for baby to let go of the sucking.  If you don't get 
rid of the paci between 5-7 mo (it's a developmental thing) you usually have 
it for the long haul.  I commonly see kids with pacis who are way over 2 
years old.  Then they become a nasty dirty object that interferes with 
speech and activities.  What about the study a few years ago that connected 
paci use past 6 mo with ear infections?  Darn!  Pat in SNJ
