My husband said it was funny, but that he can only laugh at it now, because
our last has finally weaned! He wouldn't have found it so funny while he
was still wondering when (and if) that day would come. (He wasn't as sure
about child-led weaning as I was). My last daughter nursed until almost her
5th birthday.

I actually think instead of this skit being about making fun of extended
breastfeeders, I think it is actually extended breastfeeders poking fun at
what *others* think about extended breastfeeding! I mean, whoever wrote
that skit, had a pretty good knowledge of toddler nursing - the actions and
words and the way a toddler talks, and the way a mom talks to a nursing
toddler, are just perfect. That's what makes it so funny.

I think that someone who has made it to the stage of toddler nursing, is
probably pretty open to the idea of extended nursing. So if the skit was
written by a toddler/extended-nurser, then I think "we* have control of the
humour.

I've often heard extended nursers use the comeback to "when he goes to
college" or something like that, as a response to the question "when are you
planning to wean?" I think this skit is the same kind of sense of humour.
