There was a great deal of downtown flooding here in Mobile. The Exploreum
suffered minor flooding 1/2 - 1 inch of water in our Hands on Hall exhibit
gallery. This exhibit gallery is the one on our east side, closest to the
bay. Hands on Hall is in the tear down phase of a major rework, so the
damage seems minimal. We also had about 5 feet of water in our front stair
well. The main lobby and first floor are about 10 feet above street level
so only the stairwell was underwater.
We had planned to be closed for a week, after Labor Day, for maintenance.
We should be up and running fine after that.
