Nauticus, The National Maritime Center is currently the only public educational facility/science center in the world with NOAA's Science On a Sphere. It is a component of our partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, called [log in to unmask] I know that there are a number of places who are also going to get one in the near future, so just to give you an example of the educational power of this unique device... last Thursday 8/25/05, Hurricane Katrina passed over Florida. This was visible on the 'live clouds' data set on the Sphere. Walking around to the other side of the Sphere, our visitors were ALSO able to see Typhoon Mawar as it passed over Japan at the same time!
 
If any of you are interested in seeing SOS, or you're one of the centers that will get SOS and would like to learn how we use it, feel free to contact me. The only fee will be a good beer.
