Just catching up after returning from ILCA Conference. I had a discussion with a couple other LCs over breakfast regarding C/S rates. One person stated that she noticed that while their total number of deliveries was decreasing, there seemed to be as many C/S as ever. It seems that the number of Sections is constant rather than a percentage of deliveries! One speculation was that perhaps the need for the additional income they provide stimulates the "need" for performing them. Another thought-rather like which came first, the chicken or the egg-is that perhaps the total deliveries at that facility was down because of the moms that opted for another location in order to have more likelihood of giving birth naturally.
