And, on the not so serious side, there is "Charlie Chan at the Opera."
It featured an opera scene written especially for the film...by none
other than Oscar Levant. And speaking of Oscar, 2006 is the centennial
of his birth. I hope the record industry will take note...pun intended
and record some of his music! For my label, we plan to record some of
his songs. While his output was, for me, a bit uneven, some of his music
is quite excellent.
