Post Doc Position Available
 
Postdoctoral position available in a dynamic science/engineering education group associated with the NSF-supported Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) on Nanostructured Interfaces at the University of Wisconsin - Madison (UW).  The Interdisciplinary Education Group of the UW MRSEC develops cutting-edge instructional materials on the topics of solid-state chemistry, materials science, nanoscale engineering, and nanotechnology. The postdoctoral position available will specifically focus on managing our NSF-funded Internships in Public Science Education (IPSE) program.  The program, conducted in collaboration with the Discovery World Museum in Milwaukee, WI ( www.discoveryworld.org), will emphasize exhibit development and will involve supervision of several graduate student interns and opportunities to conduct presentations for general and educator audiences.  Additionally, opportunities are available for supervising undergraduate research.  

A doctorate in engineering, physics, or chemistry is required, as are excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills, and a strong interest in science and technology education.  The position involves significant personnel management responsibilities, mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, collaboration with a wide range of educators, and development of materials for web dissemination.  Contingent upon funding, this position is initially for one year (second year possible), with a start date in late winter or spring of 2006.
