ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Based on my invention RopeThrower in "Contraptions A to Z" a toy was
created called "String Thing". It shoots a continuous loop of string with
seemingly gravity defying properties. The Exploratorium had asked me if they
could make a version of it for their museum floor, I said yes and they call
it "String Squirter". They have stuff about it at their website, including
a webcast "Stump the Scientists" talking about it. Go to their fabulous
website www.exploratorium.edu and do a search for "String squirter" After
String Squirter made it to the Exploratorium's floor it was then suggested
pitching the idea to a toy company, which we did.
You can find the toy String Thing as well as some other possible toys at
Can You Imagine Inc. http://www.cyi.net/
As the inventor (and patent holder) I get all of 1 1/2% of the wholesale
sales, not getting me rich, but it is still fun to have a toy to point to.

Best,
Clifford Wagner
