Music of Lawrence Dillon in the U.S. and France - Premiere Performances
of Three New Works in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Paris, France

New York, NY - Three new works for wind ensemble, flute and piano and
piano quartet by Lawrence Dillon will be heard in the U.S. and France in
the next two weeks:

Friday, May 13 - 7:30 PM - World Premiere of "Blown Away" for Wind
Ensemble by the North Carolina School of the Arts Wind Ensemble, James
Kalyn, Music Director at the Roger L.  Stevens Center of the North
Carolina School of the Arts, 1533 South Main St., Winston-Salem, North
Carolina.

Tickets for this concert are $12, with discounts for seniors and students.

Tuesday, May 17 - 7:30 PM - World Premiere of "Motion:" Sonata for Flute
and Piano by flutist Tadeu Coelho and pianist Allison Gagnon at the Judy

Arts, 1533 South Main St., Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

May 26, 2005 - World Premiere of "What Happened" a new 14 minute-long
work for violin, viola, cello and piano at Maison Danoise, 9 Boulevard

Hailed by the Louisville Courier-Journal for his "compelling, innate
soulfulness," Lawrence Dillon has produced an extensive body of work
characterized by a keen sensitivity to color and a mastery of traditional
forms.  A student of Vincent Persichetti, Milton Babbitt, Elliott Carter,
David Diamond, and Roger Sessions, Dillon became at the age of 25 the
youngest composer to earn a doctorate at the Juilliard School (1985),
also winning the Gretchaninoff Prize and an ASCAP Young Composers Award.
Currently Composer-in-Residence at the North Carolina School for the
Arts, Dillon holds residencies at numerous summer festivals, and has
been awarded grants from the American Music Center and National Endowment
for the Arts, among others.  His works have received special commendation
from the 2003 Masterprize of London, been chosen for the 2002 Jordania
International Conducting Competition in Kharkov, Ukraine and been performed
and broadcast throughout the Americas and Europe.  His music is on Albany
