I think Karleen is looking for the ref on upper limits of time to wan.  The
new AAP policy refers to K. Dettwylers chapter "A Time to Wean"in
"Breastfeeding: Biocultural Perspectives" and says "there is no upper limit
to the duration of breastfeeding and no evidence of psychologic or
developmental harm from breastfeeding into the third year of life or
longer."  So grab that book Karleen and the references you are looking for
are probably there!  (If you can't get your hands on a copy get in touch.)

Also the specific reference for alcohol is: Anderson, PO.  Alcohol and
breastfeeding. JHL 1995;11:321-323.  Which we all need to dig out and read
carefully before we continue protesting.  If it has been misinterpreted,
then we can write :-)
Overall, the new AAP policy is a dream come true.  Wait until you print it
out and read it! It is SO impressive!  The perfect handout for the next peds
meeting :-)
