Sorry I got absent mindedly carried away. There is a new book about
QUAKERS (not Shakers) who sort of started in New York City, defying
the doffing of one's hat before royalty by laying prostrate on the
ground instead I read.

"Quakerism In The City Of New York 1657-1930" John Cox, Jr. A Heritage
Classic, New York, Privately Printed, 1930. Boston: Press of Henry w.
Dutton & Son, 90 & 92 Washington Street, 1869. A Facsimile Reprint
Published 2000 by Heritage Books, Bowie, Maryland, 20716,
1-800-398-7709. ISBN 0-7884-1570-0.
