I have rediscovered my old copy of the Rach second sonata - the Browning
version (actually the original version) but with a couple of pages of
notes in front outlining his ideas about the sonata and giving the schema
of the Horowitz version (incidentally, can you buy the Horowitz version
in sheet music or do you have to go through a cut and paste job yourself?).

We know that Rachmaninoff wanted to simplify it; he greatly admired
Chopin's sparer use of notes (is that the correct version of the story).
Hence he revised the sonata.

But is there anyone out there who really prefers the revised version to
the original version. I much prefer the first version, notes and all.
I like the Horowitz version but that is largely the original version.

Any comments on Rach sonata 2 preferences?
