you wouldn't first talk with the parents about what other foods the child
is eating?  maybe counsel them to cut out sugar, white flour, white rice
and other nutritionally empty foods?  you wouldn't ask about how much
exercise the child gets, maybe suggest cutting out TV and getting outdoors
to play more?  you wouldn't check first for hypothyroid or other conditions
that may be causing him to be overweight?  maybe there is a difference
between what is most effective and what is most beneficial.
