Has anyone ever heard of Zoloft inhibiting milk
supply?  Hale's makes no mention of such a thing.  I'm
working with a mother with supply issues and she
wonders if the Zoloft has anything to do with it.  She
states that she had typical prenatal breast
growth/fullness until about the 4th month when she
started taking Zoloft at which time they went down in
size to prepregnant size.  States her breasts did
become a little bit fuller about the time her milk
would have come in, but never really *full* like with
her last child.

There are a lot of other factors that are more likely
contributing to this supply issue (baby is only 2
weeks old and had been given supplements with no
pumping from birth)  :-(    Mom doesn't have the
emotional or physical energy to pump although she did
rent a pump.  She is using an SNS at this point and
since day 12 (2 days ago) has been giving all feeds at
the breast (formula since she doesn't want to pump)
Baby's weight tonight was 50gm lower than 2 nights
ago.  We had a misunderstanding about the amount of
supplement to put in the SNS and when to lower the
amount, so that it ended up that baby was probably not
getting enough for the last day.  But then again it
could be just one of those things.  We plan to check
wt again on Monday.

Baby seems to want to nurse and will latch readily,
but clicks with each suck when flow is good with SNS
and falls asleep as if switched off if we clamp the
SNS.  For about 15 mintues at the begining of the feed
she didn't click and seemed to do well but transferred
only 25ml (around 20 of which came from the SNS).
Then we switched sides and she took another 30ml
(again around 20 from SNS), but clicked throughout.
Mom has no pain breastfeeding and latch is
asymmetrical for the most part.  No tongue tie that I
can see.  Tongue seems to move well.  Palate seems
normal.

This is her third child and she successfully breastfed
the second for 9 months.  We're working on the supply
now.  Not sure how it's going to turn out, but just
wondered if anyone had heard of Zoloft negatively
affecting milk supply or I guess what I'm really
wondering about is if it could affect duct growth
during the pregnancy.

Also wondering about the clicking for half of the
feeding.  Mom says that she will click like that for
one breast or the other, not one specific breast, but
not usually both at the same feeding.  It was weird.
Cross cradle position for both sides.
