This mother should consider seeing a dermatologist. It sounds like she's had
this lesion for about 8 months! Has she been treated with systemic (by mouth
or IV) antibiotics or antifungals? Or just the topical creams/ointments? Has
the lesion ever been cultured?
The doctor should rule out Paget's disease which is a form of breast cancer.
One possibility is for the mother to wean from the affected side - this
would be a last resort - at least she would not have to completely wean.
