I majored in political science in college and thus my comments reflect the 
kind of education I received.  What was often said in the course of various 
discussions in my classes was that, "the personal was the political and the 
political was the personal."  Thus breastfeeding, the personal, is political and the 
political is breastfeeding.  Politics is about power and how that power is 
used within a society.  Politics is part and parcel of breastfeeding advocacy.  
If we cannot discuss politics, then we have discounted the power of 
breastfeeding and human milk in our society.
