The past couple of days have brought unparallelled news of a catastrophe
whose magnitude we can't even begin to grasp. Half the population of Asia
are minors. Mothers are missing, leaving children behind. Children are
dead, and mothers, including breastfeeding mothers, are left behind. The
acute need for humanitarian aid is huge. Please take a moment to make a
donation to whatever relief agency you know and trust, who is working in the
areas of Asia hit by the tsunami. Save the Children and Unicef, the
International Red Cross and Int'l Red Crescent, are among those agencies,
and there are others who are less well known internationally. Here, people
are being encouraged not to buy so many fireworks for New Year's Eve, and to
hold back on the champagne, and give a donation instead.

You might consider making the agency you give to, aware of the WHO document
'Infant feeding in emergencies' which is still on line at
http://www.euro.who.int/document/e56303.pdf They will not be offended if
they are already using it.
