MCN's 33rd Annual Conference Museum Computer Network Boston, 2005

MCN is pleased to announce that Alexander Rose, Executive Director of the Long Now Foundation will deliver the 2nd Annual Blackaby Keynote Address - "Designing for Longevity." As the director of Long Now Foundation, Alexander has facilitated projects such as the 10,000 Year Clock , a project to build a large scale clock as a symbol for long term thinking, and the Rosetta project which seeks to create a new version of the Rosetta stone, a public archive that will contain the same texts written in as many languages as possible.

The Long Now Foundation encourages an ongoing dialogue to build a coherent, compelling body of ideas about long-term thinking, to help nudge civilization toward Long Now's goal of making long-term thinking automatic and common instead of difficult and rare. Mr. Rose will discuss these principles and their relationship to digital content, its creation and preservation. As we grapple with the issues of preserving our digital information, this talk should provide timely insight into these long term issues.

The deadline for proposals is fast approaching. There is not much time left. The deadline has been extended to Feb 28th. Don't tempt fate, get your proposals in and be a part of MCN 2005. See details or submit your proposal ONLINE at www.mcn.edu today.
