I think about 80 percent of my collection is composed of second-hand
or heavily discounted CDs.  We have store in Tucson that has supplied
me with CDs for years, but since the previous manager, a classical music
fan, left, I'm afraid the owner is allowing to large classical collection
to work itself down.  And after my annual trip to San Francisco, I often
returned with as many as 20 CDs purchased from a store on 24th Street,
the name of which escapes me now.  Anytime I am in a new town, if I have
some extra time I seek out such places.

A smattering of composers I have been introduced to from the second
hand bins include: Bantock, Barati, Casella, Coates, Dutilleux,
Gerhard.....Boris Tchaikovsky, Tveitt, Valen, Vermeulen, Richard Wilson,
Dag Wiren, and Isang Yun...at prices ranging from $3 to $10 per CD.
