These reports are inaccurate. Although Tower is not completely out of
the dog house as yet, they have renegotiated their debt, and went out
of bankruptcy proceedings some months ago. Tower is in no worse shape
than any other record chain, and the problems lie far deeper than customer
service. The experience of our original poster is sad, but it can happen
in any industry. I have gotten equally ratty service from Home Depot
and Wal Mart.

I think that we need to be careful when we start throwing around
generalizations as diagnoses for the problems in the record industry.
They are manifold and numerous, and they stem from the use of a decades
old business model that has not been able to keep up with consumers'
demand for product at a good price. Further, the advent of new
technologies is far ahead of the industry that provides the software.

It is a problem that will not be easily solved.
