EVENTS AND PROGRAMMES MANAGER
Circa £23k P/A depending on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with a passion for science
communication to join the Techniquest Visitor Services team. We are looking
for an imaginative, dynamic person who can demonstrate excellent
understanding of the public in a setting like Techniquest, and can grasp
opportunities and make things happen in an exciting and forward looking
organisation. You should be outgoing, confident and comfortable with
speaking to a wide range of audiences and brimming with creative ideas on
how to communicate science using all the resources of Techniquest

The Events and Programmes Manager is responsible for the research,
development and implementation of all events and programmes run for our
public visitors. You will manage a team of two staff, one full-time and one
part-time, as well as input to events and programmes from staff in other
departments. You will also supervise all elements of staff training that
relate to public programmes. This will include training staff at
Techniquest's franchises elsewhere in the UK.

In addition to the responsibility for all aspects of the management of
public events in the Science Theatre, Planetarium, Discovery Room and
Laboratory, the successful candidate will have creative responsibility for
The Hub, Techniquest's IT/temporary exhibition space. You will be working
with the Operations and Marketing Director and other staff to reimagine the
possibilities for events and public programmes in Techniquest and will also
be actively contributing ideas to the current review of Techniquest's
overall mission and activities.

You must have a first degree in science and at least three years experience
of running activities of this kind in a science communication environment.
A postgraduate qualification in science communication would also be
desirable. You will have a high level of written and verbal communication
skills and
an ability to work to tight deadlines. The ability to speak Welsh would
also be welcome.

If you think you can meet this exciting challenge, then please send or
email your CV and covering letter to Sue Davies, [log in to unmask],
