Mickey,

Do we know there IS a problem here? What is the baby's urine and stool
output per 24 hours? Have accurate pre and post feed weighs been done, with
a proper scale? (A Medela Baby Weigh or Baby Checker?) Has an evaluation
been done to check positioning, latching and swallowing?

As you said, pumping is NO indicator of how much baby is getting. Until we
know output, pre and post feed weighs, and if and how the baby is suckling
it is hard to address if there is actually a real problem or not.

Perhaps a referal to an IBCLC would be helpful, if either diapers are not
sufficient, properly done test weighs are not good, or the mother still has
concern, despite these things being normal. I, also, don't see a 5 oz loss
as significant or a red flag, at this stage. I think the loss would be more
profound if there was a serious supply issue, but if the mother has
concern, she and the baby should be evaluated.
