I have not done a study concerning rapid weight loss but I can tell you
from years and years in the business that the mom who undergo a
C-section, have "tons" of fluid, those babies almost always loss just
about 10 % of their birth weight in the first 3 days. These babes are
peeing and pooping and doing fine. I usually explain to these Moms there
must have been some fluid shift to their baby. It is the babes who do
not pee or poop and lose 7-10% that I worry about.

Hi,
I have contemplated doing a "study" concerning the rapid 7-10% weight
loss
on these post c-section babies. Working in a hospital with a Level 4
NICU
and a high risk population (Georgetown Un. Hospital) and seemingly high
c/s
rate this issue occurs almost daily.
Has a study been done? I am not a statatician so am in the process of
reviewing "A Simple Method for Evaluating the Clinical Literature" which
was on Medscape this week to get an idea of which method would be the
best
approach. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/478269.
