ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************

Ever wonder where "standards and best practices" come from? They come
from you-the field-talking with each other and coming to consensus on
how museums should operate. Join your colleagues at the National
Interpretive Planning Colloquium at the AAM annual meeting for a working
session on interpretive planning. Hosted by The Indianapolis Children's
Museum on Thursday, May 5, 2005.

Participants will:

*	Discuss sample interpretive plans to identify useful elements
*	Create guidelines for the purpose, content, and structure of
interpretive plans
*	Identify strategies to surmount the challenges of writing and
implementing interpretive plans

The results will be disseminated to the field through AAM materials and
used by the Accreditation Commission to shape their expectations
regarding interpretive planning.

Registration is complimentary, but participation is based on competitive
application. Up to 80 applicants will be chosen to represent diverse
museums, independent professionals, and various areas of museum
expertise. Preference will be given to museums who commit to sending two
staff members, and board members are welcome. Application forms for
museum staff and for independent professionals, and additional
information, are available on the AAM Web site at
http://www.aam-us.org/getinvolved/learn/seminars.cfm. Application
deadline is March 18th.
