Check with zoos in your area.

We hosted the "Masters of the Night" traveling exhibit a few years ago, and
borrowed fruit bats from the Milwaukee Zoo for three months.

..and yes... They're messy critters--but visitors loved them! They're really
big and fascinating to watch.

We had to build a cage to the zoo's specs and we kept it in a darkened area
at the back of our exhibit hall, with light timers to trick them into
thinking day was night so they would be more active during museum hours.
