Wow, it is great to have someone come the first days and check. This =

Judy, congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter! These extra visits
do make such a big difference in helping to get breastfeeding off to a good
start. I know it was very helpful for me with my first child (son who is now 8
years old). In addition, being attended through the birth process by three
women who had nursed something like 11 children among them I thought was also
something that doesn't happen every day for moms in the US.

With regard to other posts about so many postpartum visitors, registered
midwives in Colorado also post a sign on the the door for prospective visitors
that asks them not to stay too long and to help out instead of wear everyone out.
:) I happen to have a copy of the sign right at hand.

Mom and baby are resting, and the new family is bonding. They appreciate
your caring, but please limit your visit to 15 minutes. This will ensure that
they recover well from the hard work of giving birth. You may wish to help out
with other children, laundry or dishes. We appreciate your understanding and
cooperation during this exciting time.

Your local midwives!"
