ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Pittsburgh's original Buhl Planetarium and Institute
of Popular Science, which operated from 1939 to 1991,
only closed to the public one day per year during its
entire operation. In the beginning, it closed on New
Year's Day. By the 1960s, that had changed to being
open New Year's Day and closed on Christmas Day.

However, in all cases, Buhl Planetarium was always
open on Independence Day and July 3. Any day that
would be convenient for the public to visit, Buhl
management, wisely, decided to remain open to the
public.

Hello, all. We are considering a large
multi-institution event that
will
happen in 2008 and need to know whether museums across
the country are
open July 3 and/or July 4. If you could shoot me a
quick message
*off-list* that says whether or not you are open on
those dates, I
would
really appreciate it.

Thanks, in advance!

Michelle
