Thomas Pasatieri, whose 1972 opera, "The Seagull," will be performed by
the San Francisco Opera Center, at Fort Mason, April 23, 25, 30, and May
2 (http://sfopera.com/ce_calendar.asp?), is the composer featured at a
special concert in Seattle on May 10.

The world premiere of Pasatieri's "Letter to Warsaw," with Jane Eaglen,
is conducted by Seattle Symphony music director Gerard Schwarz, in
Benaroya Hall. The 70-minute work for chamber orchestra and soprano is
based on six poems by Pola Braun, written in the Warsaw ghetto and the
Majdanek concentration camp, where she was among thousands of prisoners
executed in late 1943. The presenting organization, dedicated to the
musical legacy of the Holocaust, is Music of Remembrance
(http://www.musicofremembrance.org.).
