At The Imaginarium we refer to our teen volunteers as SCIENCE GUIDES.
Our paid teen staff are called LEAD SCIENCE GUIDES.

Our adult volunteers are still called ADULT VOLUNTEERS :-) 

I preferred the sound of "guide"-being more of a coach- than the term
"explainer"-sounds more like the authority.

 I was wondering if there were any inspired names out there for docent or
docent programs that Might help spark some ideas for us in our department.
We are developing a formalized Docent Program for volunteer educators at the
Berkshire Museum. We were trying to get away from calling them Docents since
we will be bringing on folks to do carts programs, assisting in family
programs as well teaching "formally" to school groups that take educator led
programs.
