I could also use some ideas on responding to the inevitable response to
this kind of thing: "I'm with my child 24/7 and *I* need a break." I
tend to reply with, "You might find that being with other moms and their
babies is a nice change." Any other ideas?

Leading on from the last reply about pleasurable activities, my response to above might be "A break from a distressed child, or a break from a contented child?"
That might be a key issue.  I remember how long the screaming days were and how lovely it was when the baby was relaxed, contented.  In many ways that was the best break.

That's totally empirical and person experience based, but the idea is exploring alternatives.  I have a bunch of moms who won't try alternatives to buggies or carriers, but are upset about hauling the crying kids around.
