Me, too. I recited it pretty much word for word the day after I read it
here. Using terms like "folding the nipple in" or "expressing at the
breast" can help mothers remember the technique.

Describing breastfeeding techniques can be really complicated, of
course, as those of us who spend a lot of time holding our breasts close
to the telephone receiver know. However, having a purely verbal contact
has some advantages. The mother is in the privacy and comfortable
familiarity of her own home, so that what she learns is contextualized
into her own everyday routine, i.e. she did not go out and get a service
in a medical or professional setting. Home visits share this advantage,
but they bring someone into the home, physically, and the mother can
feel awkward in her attempts to latch or about how people will view her
home situation. When there is no professional there to actually show or
take the lead in latching the baby on, the mother realizes she can do it
herself. There is an emphasis on speech, and "talking through"
situations, which might not be as present in face-to-face and hands-on
situations.
