I have had many similar experiences with multiple-birth infants and their mothers. In a few instances, latching or effective breastfeeding took more than 3.5 months but most were within the time frame Ann mentions.

BTW, are all aware that Dee's wonderful article referred to in Ann's post re: breastfeeding reinforcing bottle-feed technique is now available online in PDF format? It's at www.ilca.org Once there, go to Publications and scroll down -- easy to find. I refer to a similar technique in Mothering Multiples at the end of chapter re: "Making up for a Poor Start," but Dee describes it in so much better and in user-friendly detail. I've referred several MOT/MOM I've met online to this article (to be used in conjunction with local IBCLC/LLLL, etc.). This technique works, is "comfortable" for most stressed-out parents, and buys time for most babies until they become more effective breastfeeders. Thanks, Dee!
