This was exactly what I thought wen I read your post, Cindy.
The weight gain and the non-pinching when the nipples shield was used,
also, the baby not pinching the nipple when the mother was feeding lying
down, almost over the baby rang a bell (  the flow would be so high at that
time that the baby wouldn't even cope with pinching the nipple then and
therefore spluttering etc.).

I hope that this mom will try Jean's suggestions and that they will work
for her.

Jean, I love your way with words....(but you already knew that) !
Enjoyed your post thoroughly ( and also the article you sent me before the
holidays, it makes sense and I will definitely use it ).
