Importance: High

Dear Friends,

I have been told that Amy Spangler, currently the chair of the US
Breastfeeding Committee will appear on the Early Show on CBS tomorrow
morning. I do not know the time she will appear but I was sure that you
would all want to know about the program. Apparently, Amy will be asked to
participate in a debate-like interview with Carden Johnston (the AAP
president) related to the original tone of the National Breastfeeding
Awareness Campaign. ABC 20/20 is also expected to air a related
investigative segment some time in early January.

I am sure that this media coverage would not have occurred had it not been
for the efforts of breastfeeding activists throughout the country (including
yourselves) who through letters, phone calls, and media contacts, have made
it clear that the Department of Health Services decision to postpone the
campaign will not pass unnoticed.

I will be sure to pass along any further information as I receive it.

Best wishes for 2004!

Jane
