I'm not a ceramacist, but I analyze historic artifacts. Here is a little
(very little) info on Japanese ceramics:
Per Elyce Litts, 1988, Geisha Girl Porcelain, the time line general rule is:
Nippon - dates 1891-1921
Japan (or) Made in Japan - dates post-1921.
The bulk of ceramic productiion ceased during WWII, although some continued.
Made in Occupied Japan, - dates 1945-1952
Hope that helps a little.

Histarchers,
I am wondering if anything new (the last 5 years or so) is available about
Japanese WWII+ tablewares. Most of the collection I recently got is marked
MADE IN JAPAN.
Thanks, and Happy Holidays to all -
S. Walter
