One letter written to an editor (etc) represents at least 200 people who
feel/think the same way.
Credentials may be important if you're being considered for a University
teaching job or a hospital position. Kate, your degrees in biochemistry and
biology are highly relevant in infant feeding / nutrition! Besides,
sometimes NOT having listed any "lactation" credentials establishes that the
issue you're writing about goes beyond a small number of like-minded
passionate people.
For the US Ad campaign, the more letters, the better. The total number of
letters received, the points made, and the geographic representation will
probably matter a lot more than letters after names. DO include all your
credentials, whether you think they're relevant or not. On one of my letters
I included "mother of three, grandmother of one" because we parents and
grandparents vote.
So WRITE, already!! There are sample letters on the ILCA and USBC web sites.
ANY letter is better than silence.
