Pittsburgh's original Buhl Planetarium and Institute
of Popular Science operated a 10-inch Siderostat-type
Refractor Telescope, with a very prominent solar
observing program for the public, from 1941 to 1991,
and for Astronomy classes until 1994. I managed this
program from 1986 to 1991.
You can go to this web page to see a photograph of the
telescope and learn more about the program:

I would be happy to field any specific questions you
may have, regarding the observing program and the
telescope operation.

Hello All -
Looking for "Lessons Learned" from institutions that
have a solar
telescope
exhibit. I've read the archives. I've got 'scope
sources. What I'm
really
looking for is anecdotal experience about maintenance
issues, "things I
would have done differently", installation issues,
that kind of thing.
Regards,
John
