BRITISH INTERACTIVE GROUP CONFERENCE
HERSTMONCEUX, SUSSEX
JULY 21ST - 24TH 2004

CALL FOR SESSION PROPOSALS

The British Interactive Group (BIG) is an organisation for individuals
involved in all aspects of hands-on exhibitions and activities. BIG aims to
improve understanding of the potential of hands-on and the role it can play
in may contexts, to encourage high professional standards and act as a voice
for all people working with interactivity. (Visit our website at
www.big.uk.com)

Each year BIG holds its annual conference (The BIG Event) at Herstmonceux
Science Centre, Sussex, England, with delegates from across the UK, Europe
and worldwide.

The BIG event is relevant not only for people running science centres and
museums, but for artists, presenters, archaeologists, educators, students,
front of house staff, evaluators and anyone involved in interactive
communication whatever their field.

The BIG Executive Committee is currently seeking proposals for sessions at
the 2004 conference. Sessions on a broad spectrum of topics related to
interactivity, (theory and practice) are invited. We wish to include
sessions from a wide variety of hands-on related fields, and creative /
non-traditional ideas are welcome!

If you are interested in taking an active role in next year's BIG event,
then email a draft title for your proposed session, a brief description (up
to 75 words), and details of likely participants to Sue Brumpton, Chair of
the British Interactive Group ([log in to unmask]), by 31st December 2003.
Please include "BIG Event 2004 Proposal" as the subject line. The Committee
will evaluate proposals in January 2004 and devise an outline programme soon
afterwards.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Further details for proponents:

* Each session must have a convenor, and usually no more than three
speakers / presenters (one of whom may be the convenor)
* Session time slots are usually 1 or 2 hours. Please indicate the
ideal duration for your session in your proposal
* Where known, you should give an indication of your technology /
equipment requirements for the session
* The usual registration fee is waived for convenors and speakers on
the day of their session, and convenors / speakers will be awarded honorary
membership of BIG for the 2004 membership year. However, unless there are
exceptional circumstances, BIG cannot pay appearance fees, travel costs or
other expenses incurred by convenors / speakers.
* There is room for flexibility in the way sessions are organised and
run, and we are happy to help where we can. If you have any questions, want
help in developing a session idea, or want to run an initial concept by us,
then email Regan Forrest, [log in to unmask] Please include 'BIG event
session query' as the subject line.
