Bees usually visit the flowers for the nectar. Pollination is a side
benefit. If there is too much rain, this rain may have washed out the
nectar in the flower's nectaries and therefore there would be little to no
attraction to bees to visit the flowers for pollination. Thus you would
have poor pollination results. The poor crop was due not to lack of
pollinating insects but rather the washed out effects of the rain.
