Speaking of ASTC Session Ideas and all the posts about learning kits -
my colleague, Bill Watson, and I have been discussing a session idea -
Science Survior: Beyond the Scavenger Hunt. Bill posted yesterday about
our success with placing groups in teams to compete in challenges at
exhibits rather than using the standard scavenger hunt. We are also
very interested in learning more about implementing learning kits or
'backpacks'. If anyone is interested in hosting a session like this
with us, please contact me off the list.

Thank you,

The Tech Museum of Innovation will be hosting the Association of
Science-Technology Centers Conference in San Jose, California, USA,
September 18-21, 2004. The deadline for submitting session and workshop
proposals to ASTC is December 31, 2003.

This year, The Tech (and friends from the Science Museum of Virginia and
MOSI) hosted a session "Sustaining Innovation in an Era of Rapid Change:
Preparing for ASTC 2004" at this year's conference. Our intent in
hosting
the session and distributing this idea list is to inspire and help
connect
people who are interested in presenting sessions and workshops.

You will find a list of session ideas for ASTC 2004 and contact
information
for people who are organizing the sessions at:
http://www.thetech.org/events/astc/2004_ASTC_Session_Ideas_List.doc.

Please look through the list to see if you are interested in any of
these
ideas. If you know colleagues who would be just right for addressing one
of
these ideas, please encourage them to contact the champion who has
volunteered to organize the session.

If you want to organize your own session idea, you will find all the
information you need on the ASTC website:
