Not to disagree with any of this, but I wonder if this is not true also
of Horowitz, whose celebrated recording of Scarlatti strikes me as more
Horowitz than Scarlatti, especially compared to the Scarlatti of, say,
Gieseking, which was crisp, perky and delightful.
