I have been following this story with a mixture of horror and greif. This
child was admitted with malnutrition, "hypernatremic and very ill."
And "Mom and dad have no intention to comply to standard commercial
formulas. "

Our first creed: "Feed the baby." This should also include, "Feed the baby
something which will not kill him outright or cause him undue suffereing
and illness."

I wouldn't worry about "if" or "how" these homemade formulea are or could
be made appropriate, (they aren't) My next move, if asked, would be to
contact Child Protectice Services. This child is being abused, pure and
simple. He NEEDS food which will not leave him "malnourished, dehydrated,
hypernatremic and very ill." It is his right. Everyone has a right to
proper food. Especially a helpless infant.

As IBCLCs we are "mandated reporters" for child abuse cases. At least in
the US.

I am Never one to bow to political correctness or "relgious correctness"
or "religious tolerance", when these intolerant ideas hurt babies,
