Dear Friends:
In my private practice, I have found it best to work on the mother and
the baby when CST is the modality. This way, the mother experiences what CST is
(so she knows what her baby will experience). I find this particularly
helpful as most people don't know what CST is.
Another reason to treat the mother is that it relaxes and soothes her
core system and can renew her commitment to breastfeeding. I haven't met a woman
yet who didn't enjoy some special attention to her pelvis, sacrum, and lower
back after she has had a baby.
Energetically, a mother and baby are one while lactation is ongoing. So
treating the mother also treats the baby.
I find it a very useful adjunct in lactation practice, along with
skin-to-skin care, remedial co-bathing, and infant massage.
     warmly,
